Members of Mu Epsilon Omega Chapter and ASCEND scholars spent the morning learning about the excellence of University of California Irvine (UCI) and how to be successful in high school and prepared for college. The workshop was presented by Mu Epsilon Omega’s own Tiana Otubuah, who works for the university and has the responsibility of ensuring diversity on campus. Tiana educated scholars on the type of courses they should take in high school in order to prepare them for the rigors of a higher learning institution as competitive as UCI. She also encouraged them to become involved in extracurricular activities, community service, and other activities that demonstrate they are well-rounded students. ASCEND scholars learned a wealth of information that definitely got their “juices” flowing as their interests peaked about exploring UCI as an option.

After the informative presentation, the scholars received a tour of the beautiful campus and learned many historical facts about the university.
