Education, food, music, monetary donations to a worthy cause, and support from family, friends and members of the Divine 9 made for a successful Longest Day program event. Held on Friday, June 23, at the fabulous Envy Lounge in Newport Beach, representatives from the Orange County Alzheimer’s Association educated 75 guests and how the Association supports those living with the disease. The casual fun atmosphere made a serious topic easy to address.
Through the Mu Epsilon Omega Chapter’s fundraising efforts, a total of $1,585 was donated to the Alzheimer’s Association in support of their education and research efforts.
MEO’s work to support Alpha Kappa Alpha’s national program, Target II – Health Promotion, didn’t end there. The Chapter further supported the Longest Day with a Pamper Day for caregivers of Alzheimer’s disease at Macys in Santa Ana on June 21 – the day designated by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. as a Community Impact Day. Chapters were asked to make an impact in their communities specifically on this day. During the Pamper Day event, caregivers received a full makeover at the makeup counter of their choice and a gift bag with samples and goodies courtesy of Macys. Guests were welcomed in the store with bright pink and green balloons, pink lemonade, and delicious pink and green cookies.
