Mu Epsilon Omega (MEO) chapter donated 32 backpacks filled with school supplies to Diamond Elementary School, located in Santa Ana, where 95% of the students come from socioeconomically disadvantaged households. The donation was in support of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated’s Educational Initiative, One Million Backpacks.
MEO member Trenita Ward lead this effort, and delivered the backpacks to the principal, Dr. Denise Bertrand, prior to the start of school to ensure that students would have brand new backpacks and supplies to the start the school year off right. On August 19, Victoria Morris-Ivie, President of Mu Epsilon Omega , Stefanie Phillips, Ed.D, Superintendent of Santa Ana Unified School District, and Deidra Powell, Vice-President of Mu Epsilon Omega, presented the backpacks to 32 children, who were extremely grateful for MEO’s donation. MEO members greeted the children and their families and expressed the chapter’s appreciation to serve such a wonderful community.
